Died on Monday at his home.  Heart attack.  Services at Woods chapel.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Masonic rites graveside.  Born on June 21, 1877 in Winchester, KS.  Came to Valley in 1898.  Farmed for a while, then was a caretaker at Farmers Union Reservoir for 12 years.

Only daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Walter Ickes.  Died on Dec 14.  3 years old.  Services and buried in Denver.

Died on April 21.  Services at Methodist church.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Born in Oct 1883 in Burlingame, KS.  Came here in 1908.  Husband, son, and 3 daughters survive.

Died on Feb 12 in Alamosa hospital.  Services at Presbyterian church.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Past 80 and an early settler.

 

ICKES, Mrs. T. E. nee Hunter   MVJ 10/21/1938

Died on Monday at Rock Springs, WY.  The Hunters came to MV in 1886.  In hotel business.  The Ickes family owned a large ranch at Granger, WY.

Died on Oct 15.  Heart attack.  Services and buried in Albuquerque.  Born on Jan 30, 1910 at Center.  Served in Pacific in WWII.  Married Ina Burk Eagle in 1946.

Died on April 10 at MV.  Came from Denver a few weeks ago on a stretcher, hoping for improvement in health.

Died on March 29 while coming to Homelake from CA.  Services and buried at Homelake.  Age 69.  Born in Polk City, IA and came to Homelake in 1960.  Ran greenhouse and was a painter.

Died on July 21 in Alamosa hospital.   Services at Methodist church.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Resident of Stratton Home in Colo. Springs and became ill while visiting in Valley.  Born on Aug 3, 1886 in Baldwin, KS.  While husband, Everett, was living, they farmed near MV.

Died on Wednesday at Del Norte hospital following surgery.  Age 40.  Parents, widow, and 2 children survive.

Died on Tuesday in Arkansas Pass, TX.  Services at Center Methodist church.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Widow of W. A. irons who died in 1928.  Daughter, June Barefoot, survives.

Died at his home in Center on Oct 16.  Stroke.  Services at M E church.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Born in IN and came to Valley 22 years ago.  Lived at MV for several years.

Died at the Home on June 23, 1923.  Buried at Home cemetery with military honors.  Pioneer settler of San Luis Valley.  Member of Co. E First Tenn. Light Cavalry.

 

IRVIN, James A.   MVJ 6/12/1936

Died on Sunday.  Services at Woods.  Buried in MV Cemetery.  Born on March 1, 1876 in Los Angeles.  Came here from TX in 1895.  Old time cowboy.  No known relatives.

 

IRWIN, Eli   MVJ 6/17/1898

Died suddenly at the Soldana home on Tuesday of heart disease.  He was 50 years old, a native of Minnstown, PA, and served during the Civil War in Co. I. 12th Kansas Infantry.

 

ISBELL, A. M.   MVJ 7/22/1916

Was found dead in his car on Tuesday evening.  Age 65.  Had lived in Valley for more than 20 years.  Owned considerable property, but little is known about him.  Body shipped to Eaton, NY for burial.

Died on Sept 16 at Homelake.  Services and buried in Aspen, CO.  Born in Scranton, PA on Aug 14, 1885.

George and his wife were hunting rabbits when Mr. Jermy was accidentally shot.  Funeral conducted by Woodmen assisted by Fraternal Aid Association.

Died on July 10 at Pueblo from effects of sun stroke.  Age 37.  Two brothers, George A. & A. W. Jermy, survive.  Woodman Lodge.  Buried in Alamosa.

They were born in Sweden in 1851 and 1853 and came to MV around 1905.  In 1899, John married Mrs. Ida Miller.  Ben married Ida Lewis in 1909.  Services at M E church.

Died on March 10 in Fresno, CA.  Services and buried there.  Born in MO, but lived in MV for 40 years.  Rancher.
